About Us

The Xu lab at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University, is dedicated to advancing the field of bacterial pathogenesis through innovative and interdisciplinary research. Our lab focuses on understanding how pathogens like Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis manipulate host immune responses and cause tissue damage during infections. By investigating bacterial metabolic pathways, immune modulation, and the role of hyper-NETosis, we aim to uncover novel therapeutic targets to combat severe infections and antibiotic resistance. With a strong emphasis on translational research, we are committed to bridging fundamental discoveries with clinical applications, working toward innovative treatments that improve patient outcomes.
